Trainer Class Format

This is a new way to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game! Trainer Class Format adds class abilities to the player for a fun addition to the gameplay. The trainer class must be chosen at the start of the tournament (and cannot be changed). A Standard Format deck must be used for this tournament.


Channeler – Once during your turn, you may play an item card from your discard. If you do, then lost zone that trainer card and the top card of your deck. You start the game with 8 prize cards instead of 6.

Psychic – Before you draw for turn, look at the top 3 cards of your deck, then put the cards back in any order.

Black Belt – All of your Pokémon have +40 HP and do 10 more damage (to the active Pokémon).

Professor – Before you start the game, place 3 basic Pokémon face down on the table, your opponent chooses one to put into your active spot. The others go to your bench. Set up normally from here.

Swimmer – Once during your turn, when you attach an energy from your hand, you may attach another energy to another Pokémon.

Bug Catcher – Your Basic Pokémon can evolve the turn they come into play.

Bird Keeper – Your Pokémon’s retreat cost is less. Prevent all damage done to your benched Pokémon.

Dragon Tamer – Your Pokémon in play have +30 HP and have the attack Draco Meteor:

/ 330 Damage / Discard all energy attached to this Pokémon

Nurse – During Pokémon Checkup Heal 20 damage from all of your Pokémon. Your Pokémon cannot be affected by special conditions.

Ninja – All of your attacks have “Your opponent’s active Pokémon is now poisoned, place 3 damage counters on it instead of 1 during Pokémon checkup”

Miner – When you draw more than 5 cards in a turn, discard the top 5 cards from your opponent’s deck.

Student – When you role a die to determine who goes first, note if it is evens or odds. When you have the same remaining prize cards, draw 3 for turn instead of 1.

Firebreather – Once during your turn, you may discard a energy from your hand, if you do, draw 3 cards and your opponent’s active Pokémon is burned.

Pokemaniac – Once during your turn, you may search your deck for a Pokémon, reveal it and put it into your hand.

Biker – When you draw for turn, draw 2, put one into your hand and the the other to the discard. You may retreat two times in a turn.

Juggler – Before you draw for turn, you may shuffle your hand and put it on the bottom of your deck. Then draw a card for each card you put on the bottom of your deck.

Collector – If you have 35 or more cards in your hand in between turns, you win!

Gambler – Whenever you flip a coin you may ignore the result and reflip. (You can only do this once per effect).

Electrifying Guy – Your Pokémon’s attacks cost less.

Worker – Your Pokémon can have 2 more tools attached.
